Frequently Asked Questions

What if I don’t notice any difference after purchasing a hearing aid?

It is normal to experience a period of transition after getting a hearing aid as you need to adjust to a new level of “hearing”. Give yourself time to get used to your hearing aid but if you are still experiencing difficulties after 4 weeks contact our office directly for a follow up consultation.

Can using a hearing aid worsen my hearing loss?

Hearing aids cannot make your existing hearing loss worse. The sooner you start using a hearing aid the better as you will start to stimulate the sound processing areas within the brain. If these sound processing areas are left without stimulation your hearing will get worse over time. Our recommendation is that you take one of our hearing aids on our risk free 30 day trial to see what they can do for you.

How do I know if I need hearing aids for both ears?

If you experience hearing loss in both ears, the audiological recommendation is that you need to aid both ears. Using hearing aids in both ears will give you the advantage of ‘binaural’ hearing, which means that elements like localisation ability can be better preserved.

Can I damage my hearing if I set the hearing aid at a high volume?

At SmartFit all our hearing aid products have been tested to the highest standards and they are restricted to safe amplification limits in accordance with EU standards.

What if my hearing aid stops working?

We provide an extensive troubleshooting guide at the back of your user guide. If none of these troubleshooting hints solves the problem, you can contact our office directly to arrange for your hearing aid to be returned to us for repair.

All SmartFit hearing aids carry a 12 month warranty from the date of invoice. Our warranty covers defects in material or faulty production.

This warranty will become invalid if the hearing aids have been tampered with, misused or altered in any way, or if the serial number has been altered, defaced, removed, or if any repairs have been made without authorisation. Please keep your invoice as this acts as your warranty. You may be required to provide proof of purchase so keep your invoice safe throughout the warranty period.

Is payment to the Hearing Company secure?

Yes, we offer a full independently secured payment facility. We never hold or see your card details; we simply receive confirmation from the secure payment server that payment has cleared.

Why are your hearing aid products so cheap?

A lot of the expenses involved in buying a hearing aid, e.g. premises costs, staff costs etc. have been eliminated which means we can offer you very competitive prices on all our products. You can make instant savings on all hearing aids you purchase from us.
